Tom Kivisto – Successful Businessman and extra ordinary talented

A successful American businessman Tom Kivisto co-founded SemGroup L.P.  In United States, this company became one of the largest privately held companies. Tom Kivisto served as president and chief executive in SemGroup till 2008. At that time there were liquidity issues and bankruptcy issues in company. Son of a successful basketball coach Ernie, great personality and extra ordinary talented Tom Kivisto won many trophies and tournaments of basketball. He played for basketball team from 1970 to 1974.

Holding bachelor’s degree in psychology and post graduated in Urban Planning, Tom Kivisto started his life in the world of business. He worked as a free bird and took his business to the heights of success.  His leadership was so productive and remarkable. During serving for SemGroup his leadership contributed and company’s assets grew from $227.4 million to more than $3.6 billion in five years. He worked for Koch Industries for long 15 years in Kansas and then moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma with his family. Apart from being a successful and so talented American businessman, he is designated in the board of directors of Saint Francis Health System, Family & Children’s  Services. He serves for co-founded Project Single Parent which is a nonprofit organization. Tom Kivisto donated over $15 million to the University of Kansas where he studied. The donation was to finance the building of new football facilities. The Pipe Liners Club of Tulsa awarded him with President’s Award. His name was suggested for the board of trustees of the University of Tulsa.

Tom Kivisto an American businessman is a co-founder of  SemGroup, L.P. He served as the company’s president and chief executive officer. Tom Kivisto was a great business personality with extra ordinary talent. He was very devotee towards his jobs and responsibilities. Under his leadership, SemGroup completed more than 40 acquisitions and its total assets grew from $227.4 million in 2000 to more than $3.6 billion at year-end 2005. Tom Kivisto was replaced by Terry Ronan on July 18, 2008, after news surfaced that SemGroup, L.P. was experiencing liquidity issues.

Tom Kivisto was a star point guard at East Aurora High School near Chicago. He then earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Kansas, majoring in pre-med/psychology and playing for the basketball team from 1970 to 1974.

Tom Kivisto moved his family to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1993 after having lived in Wichita, Kansas for 15 years working for Koch Industries. He started his own services company, SemGroup, which became one of the largest privately held companies in the United States
